Be Your Own Coach is filled with exercises and practices that you can use to coach yourself. In this section we will continue to offer you more practices to work with the ideas in the book.

If you happen to be a corporate coach, these practices will provide you with alternatives to use in coaching courses you may be teaching using our book. You may also use these practices with your in-house coaching clients.

If you are an independent professional coach, you can use these practices as a supplement to the ones offered in the book.

Coaching practice related to the movie Mostly Martha.

Coaching Practice:

  1. For the next two weeks, practice seeing the world with the lens of lightness, like Mario. What do you notice that is new? What do you notice about how you feel when you are seeing with lightness?
  2. Think of someone who, when you see them, you think, “oh no, trouble coming.” Mario could have thought that about Martha (she certainly thought that about him). Instead, he accepted her and found ways to communicate. Can you do the same with the person in your life? Try it!
  3. Martha hated the mess in her kitchen. The next time you feel like things are getting “messy” in your life, take time to acknowledge that things may be shifting for you, and be open to the discovery and creation that may be waiting for you.
  4. At least once this week, try a new recipe!
